The article examines the evolution of the Lviv educational and scientific school of library and information sciences, established at the department of Social Communications and Information Activities of Lviv Polytechnic National University, in the context of modernization processes within document-information and information-analytical institutions, as well as the penetration of digital technologies into administrative, socio-economic and humanitarian domains of society.

The article analyzes the manifestations of educational migration. The legal regulation of
academic mobility in Ukraine as an institutional form of educational migration is researched.
The consequences of educational migration for the economy of the country, that receives
international students and for the “donor-country” are determined. The causes of educational
migration are summarized.

The entry of Ukraine into European and global processes leads to the transformation of the socio-cultural paradigm and creates new models of social life of modern students. The introduction of new methods of student exchanges and the maintenance of individual mobility by the state creates a new approach in promoting economic growth of the country, political stability and social balance of the citizens.
