ARTISTIC AND PEDAGOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF TEODOR TALIOVSKYI IN LVIV SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE

The research covers the creative and pedagogic activity of Teodor Taliovskyi, the professor of Lviv Polytechnic Institute of the end of the 19th century — early 20th century. The paper describes the architectural, artistic, pedagogic, academic and administrative activity of the prominent artist, examines archive materials of the Polytechnic School of that period which cover academic disciplines taught by the professor. The author also performs a review of the album of draft drawings of projects of churches designed by Teodor Taliovskyi.

METHODOLOGY OF RESEARCH OF THE INNER QUARTER SPACES OF HISTORICAL CITIES

When addressing issues related to the reconstruction or renovation of historic quarters of the city of Chernivtsi, special attention should be paid to the procedure of research of inner quarter spaces. The theoretical basis of the study was a number of works on the specifics of the formation of the architectural image of the central parts of historic cities and problems of urban planning. 

PEDAGOGIC ACTIVITY OF IVAN LEVYNSKY AT LVIV SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE IN THE LATE 19TH CENTURY – EARLY 20TH CENTURY

This research introduces us into the pedagogic activity of Ivan Levynsky at the Polytechnic School. Historical documents from the State Archives of Lviv region helped us to examine and analyze curriculums of the Faculty of Construction (Program szkoły politechnicznéj we Lwowie), including names of academic subjects, number of academic hours for different years of study, and short summaries of the courses taught by the professor Ivan Levynsky.

THE INFLUENCE OF IVAN LEVYNSKYI ON THE FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE LVIV ARCHITECTURAL SCHOOL AT THE END OF 19TH AND THE BEGINNING OF THE 20TH CENTURIES

Ivan Levynskyi is an outstanding representative of cultural and scientific life in Halychyna at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. He is one of the representatives of the Lviv Architectural School, which formed a direction, with pronounced tendencies of using folk traditions. Gradually he created a peculiar kind of direction in European architecture – the Ukrainian architectural style.
