subduction

Construction of the geodynamic models of the seismic active regions of the earth (the Neftegorsk earthquake, Sakhalin island)

The constructed model for a deep structure of the lithospere under the Neftegorsk earthquake region shows that North Sakhalin consists of the North Sakhalin sedimentary basin, the Deryugin basin and the ophiolite complex located between them. The ophiolite complex composed of the the ultrabasic rocks, fixes the position of the ancient subduction zone which was active about 100-60 million years ago. On a surface the subduction zone manifests itself as deep faults running along Sakhalin.

Tectonic zoning of the Carpathians in term`s of the terrane tectonics article 2. The Flysch Carpathian – ancient accretionary prism

The tectonic units of the Carpathians are considered in terms of the terrane analysis. The Flysch Carpathian nappes and Samdir molasse unit are regarded as the ancient accretionary prism. Growing the prism was caused by the Alpine subduction of the Carpathian Flysch basin basement beneath both the ALCAPA and Tisza-Dacia terranes. At the Cretaceous-Paleogene time the Fore-Marmarosh flysch prism was formed in the front of TiszaDacia terrane and the Pieniny Klippen Belt – Monastyrets–Magura – Duclya wedge was builded in the forland of ALCAPA one.

The terrain concept of evolution of the deep structure of Earth’s crust and upper mantle in the North-Sea of Okhotsk depression and in the adjacent land

Purpose. Using new data on the deep structure of the crust and upper mantle and on paleogeodynamics, resulting from complex interpretation, a model of platectonic development of the transition zone northern coast of the Sea of Okhotsk – Eurasia was developed. To show the role of terrains in the development of Okhotsk microplate paleosubduction, appearance of Okhotsk-Chukchi volcanogenic belt and its latter closing.
