Speed of urban public transport as criterion of the justification of spatial and time-based prioritization

Prioritization of urban public transport is an urgent task in the urban transport system, which is congested with traffic in most cities. The constant growth in traffic volumes and the need for movement of urban residents poses many challenges for local governments, which are quite difficult to solve, especially in cities with formed built-up areas. Travel time constantly increases while the road network's capacity remains unchanged.

Change in traffic volumes in construction work zones

The problem of bottlenecks on the road network is relevant, especially in cities with radial and radial-ring schemes, since in case of their occurrence on arterial radial streets, it is difficult to choose an alternative route due to the low capacity of secondary streets. One of these bottlenecks is the repair work area, where, due to the closure of one street, the detour is carried out by parallel routes, which increases the load on local streets and driveways. Traffic flow volumes in the repair work areas are investigated in this paper.

Study of the correspondences distribution of vehicle traffic on the road network of cities

The problems of traffic management in large cities are complicated as the increase in traffic volume far exceeds the road network capacity. It leads to saturation of the road network, which negatively affects its functioning. This article analyzes the state of the art of improving the quality of road traffic by predicting the size of traffic after the implementation of traffic management measures. While the issue of modeling traffic flow parameters based on technological factors has been sufficiently studied, the problems of considering the human factor need to be clarified.

Multi-agent modeling of traffic organization in urban agglomerations

The authors consider the features of multi-agent modeling for traffic optimization in the central areas of cities. While evaluating the unique challenges associated with the high concentration of vehicles, pedestrians and historical buildings, the potential of multi-agent systems to effectively solve the problem of congestion, safety and quality of life in urban areas is investigated. The potential of multi-agent modeling in the context of traffic management in the central areas of the city allows us to identify the key challenges and opportunities.

Impact of pedestrian flows on traffic delays before roundabouts

The paper examines a roundabout located in a residential district of Lviv city. The area has many attraction points, so traffic and pedestrian flow volumes are large. All approaches to the roundabout have unsignalized pedestrian crosswalks, three of which lack safety islands. Field studies were conducted on peak and off-peak periods, collecting primary indicators of traffic and pedestrian flows. Traffic flow delays were determined on the approaches to the roundabout under existing traffic conditions with the help of the PTV VISSIM software.

Impact of traffic volume and composition on the change in the speed of traffic flow

The problem of the change in the speed of traffic flow at different traffic volumes and compositions is researched in this study. The section of the road network with different geometric parameters (descent, ascent and horizontal section) was chosen for the study. The method of investigation of traffic flow`s speed and factors which have an impact on the reduction of road network capacity are analyzed.

The influence of the traffic light`s permissive signal share on the duration of traffic delays

Today, the motorization level and the value of traffic flow on the street-road network have increased. Often this leads to an excessive load on the existing traffic management system, highways, and roads. As a result, the number and duration of traffic delays are increasing, especially within populated areas. The consequence of this is the formation of traffic jams, increase of fuel and lubricants consumption, noise pollution, and emissions of exhaust gases. Another, no less critical consequence is an increase in traffic accidents, particularly at unsignalized intersections.

Minimization of public transport delays at arterial streets with coordinated motion

Research results, using which the method of minimization of public transport delay is improved at intersections with the system of coordinated motion control, are given in this paper. Such transport research was carried out with simultaneous application of field measurements of the study of traffic flow indicators and computer simulation in PTV VISSIM to check the level of efficiency of coordinated control and the reliability of the results.

Assessment of the noise level on arterial streets depending on traffic flow indicators

The intensity of traffic flows increases every year and intensifies its impact significantly on urban territory's ecologic situation and natural environment. In Ukrainian cities, the growth of noise pollution is quite a topical problem as it has a significant impact on the environment because of the increase in car numbers. Traffic flow intensity and densification of the built-up area cause the increase of the noise level.

Minimization of traffic delay in traffic flows with coordinated control

The method and results of transport research, carried out by field research method, on the determination of the main indicators of traffic flows with significant unevenness of the movement on the arterial street in conditions of coordinated control is reviewed in the paper. Time parameters of traffic light control for which a reduction in traffic delay is achieved in direct and opposite traffic flow by the change of permissive signal depending on traffic intensity are determined using the simulation method.
