Editorial Independence Statement

The journal "Measurement Techniques and Metrology", published by the National University "Lviv Polytechnic", is guided by the recommendations of the COPE Committee on Publication Ethics when selecting and accepting articles.

The Journal adheres to the principles of academic freedom, editorial autonomy, and international standards of publication ethics.

All decisions regarding peer review, acceptance, or rejection of manuscripts are made exclusively by the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board based on scholarly quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Principles of professional ethics in the activities of the editor and publisher

 

The work of the editor responsible for the publication of copyright works, which imposes the necessity of passing the following fundamental principles:

  • when making a decision on publication, the editor of a scientific journal is guided by the reliability of the presentation of data and the scientific value of the work under consideration.
  • The editor must evaluate the intellectual content of manuscripts regardless of the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, origin, citizenship, social status or political preferences of the authors.
  • Unpublished data obtained from manuscripts submitted for consideration should not be used for personal purposes or transferred to third parties without the written consent of the author. Information or ideas obtained during editing and associated with possible advantages should be kept confidential and not used for personal gain.
  • The editor should not allow manuscripts to be published if there are grounds to consider them plagiarism. The unplug.com program is used to check for plagiarism.
  • The editor, together with the publisher, must not leave unanswered claims regarding the reviewed manuscripts or published materials, and if a conflict situation is identified, take the necessary measures to restore violated rights.

Ethical foundations in the work of the reviewer

Reviewer provides scientific expertise copyright material, so that its actions should be impartial in nature, which is subject to the following principles:

  • A manuscript received for review should be considered a confidential document that cannot be transferred for review or discussion to third parties who are not authorized by the editorial office;
  • The reviewer is obliged to objectively and reasonably evaluate the presented research results. Personal criticism of the author is unacceptable;
  • Unpublished data obtained from manuscripts submitted for review should not be used by the reviewer for personal purposes;
  • A reviewer who, in his opinion, does not have sufficient qualifications to evaluate the manuscript or cannot be objective, for example, due to a conflict of interest with the author or organization, must notify the editorial office of this with a request to remove him from reviewing the manuscript.

Principles to guide the author of scientific publications

Author (or collective of authors) is aware that he is personally responsible for the novelty and reliability of the results of scientific research, which presupposes compliance with such principles:

  • The author(s) of the article must submit reliable results of the research conducted. False or falsified results are considered unacceptable;
  • The authors must guarantee that the research results presented in the submitted manuscript are completely original. Borrowed fragments or statements must be formatted with the mandatory indication of the author and the original source. Excessive borrowing, as well as plagiarism in any form, including unformatted citations, paraphrasing or assignment of rights to the results of other people's research, are unethical and unacceptable;
  • It is necessary to recognize the contribution of all persons who in one way or another influenced the course of the research, in particular, the article must contain references to works that were important in conducting the research;
  • The authors must not submit to the journal a manuscript previously sent to another journal, or a manuscript under consideration, or an article published in another journal;
  • All persons who made a significant contribution to the research must be listed as co-authors of the article. It is unacceptable to list persons who did not participate in the research among co-authors;
  • if the author discovers significant errors or inaccuracies in the manuscript during its review or after publication, he must notify the journal editorial office as soon as possible.
