Unconventional shale gas potential of lower visean organic-rich formations in Glynsko-Solohivskyi petroleum region

Exploration of unconventional gas resources in Ukraine is highly relevant and important for achievement energy independence of Ukraine and Europe. Production of current oil & gas fields and alternative energy resources are not able to cover our needs nowadays. Now we can not fully fill these gaps by energy resources. In this article geological environments, age, mineralogy composition and maturity of unconventional shale and carbonate gas reservoirs of Lower Visean in one of the biggest field of Dnipro-Donets Basin (DDB) were studied.

Brittleness Determination for Cement Blends with Siliceous Additives

The paper presents research of brittleness cement blends with siliceous additives using impact strength. The advantages of the developed method are simplicity of definition, low cost of equipment and operation. In the presented research were studied additives on the basis of finely ground glass obtained from waste glass containers and pozzolanic additives as fly ash, silica fume and synthetic silica. Increase in additives amount in respect to the cement mass reduces brittleness by ~10 % after 28 days of curing.

Survey of relations of chemical constituents in polymer-based materials with brittleness and its associated properties

The property of brittleness for polymers and polymer-based materials (PBMs) is an important factor in determining the potential uses of a material. Brittleness of polymers may also impact the ease and modes of polymer processing, thereby affecting economy of production. Brittleness of PBMs can be correlated with certain other properties and features of polymers; to name a few, connections to free volume, impact strength, and scratch recovery have been explored. A common thread among all such properties is their relationship to chemical composition and morphology.
