Sulfonation of unsaturated fatty acid triglycerides for the production of surface-active substances

The paper describes the preparation of surface-active substances by sulfonation of unsaturated groups that are present in the composition of molecules of fatty unsaturated acids of triglycerides. Sunflower oil, chosen for its renewable and vegetable-based origin, served as the primary raw material. The method for producing sulfonated derivatives of fatty acid triglycerides is detailed, and the structures of the resulting products were verified using IR spectroscopy. We have demonstrated the effective surfactant properties of the compounds obtained by dispersing hydrophobic substances in an aqueous environment.
