The article examines false information in digital media as a sociotechnical phenomenon that is shaped at the intersection of content distortions, producer intent, and networked platform mechanisms of diffusion. Given the blurred nature of the everyday use of the terms fake and fake news, a conceptual delimitation of related phenomena is undertaken, and the tendency to universalise these concepts across different types of falsehood is critically analysed.

THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF PROVIDING INFORMATION WARFARE IN MASS MEDIA

In the article the concept of information warfare is analyzed, it is also done comparative analysis of definitions of information warfare and information confrontation, the features and essence of these concepts are determined. Based on the analysis of 63 publications in Russian 70 Internet media of different directions, it was concluded that the media in these media had a negative attitude to the events in Ukraine and the general themes of the materials, and their ideological orientation has not changed for today.

The article examines the types of tasks and tools of information warfare, and Internet media demonstrated that recourse to the so-called special distribution of information that is intended to influence the behavior and mentality of the population. In addition, analysis of the consequences of information war as they are misleading and hostile society set up against those who focused on specific information.

Russian information war against Ukraine: peculiarities and mechanisms of countering (Review Article)

The article deals with the problem of Russian information war against Ukraine. The authors explain the primary sense of the information war, its interpretation in the framework of wide and narrow approaches. Basing on the use of historic, systemic and structural-functional methods, the main disadvantages of the information sphere of Ukraine and the central mechanisms of its protection are identified. The tools of counteraction to the Russian information war against Ukraine are divided into two groups: legislative and institutional.
