CASTLE OF CASIMIR III THE GREAT IN ZŁOTORIA

The ruins of the castle in Złotoria were not the subject of interest for a long time after the Second World War. The first architectural and construction inventory was prepared in 1966. At that time, a description of the castle ruins was also made. These were preliminary architectural studies of the monument. Special actions were recommended to save the fragments of walls that were sliding into the Vistula at that time. The next construction and conservation inventory was prepared by researchers from Toruń in 1967.

FORTALITIES AND FORTIFIED MANORS OF THE LUBELSKIE VOIVODESHIP: ANALYSIS ON THE EXAMPLE OF SELECTED

Analysing fortalities and fortified manors in the region of the Lublin Voivodeship, the article focuses on their architectural functions, cultural significance and position in the background of spatial planning. The study analyses the condition of the selected three monuments, taking into account their technical and visual condition and functionality. On the basis of the research, it can be concluded that selected monuments from the Lublin region, which show signs of defensive features, currently perform functions that are not consistent with their historical purpose.

THE RUINS OF THE CASTLE: RETHINKING

The article presents a variable range of meanings of the concept “ruin”. The castle in the state of ruins as a historical monument is considered, and the importance of preserving this type of objects actually in the state of ruins is emphasized, explaining this by the concept of “places of memory” by P. Nora, considering ruined castles as monuments-relics and comprehending their significance in literature and folklore.

METHOD OF VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE CASTLE IN THE STATE OF LONG-TERM RUIN

The main task of visual inspection of an architectural object is to collect information
about its current state and identify architectural peculiarities. Since the research information is
obtained directly at the site of the study, which is characterized by a short period of time, – the
operational fixation of information is a critical element. For this task, a method of visual inspection

THE PROBLEM OF CASTLE RUINS CONSERVATION WITHIN THE RESTORATION ACTIVITIES FORMATION

The article reveals the history of the restoration activity formation on the example of the
castle ruins restoration in Ukraine and Europe during the 19th-20th centuries.
Castles have been constantly transforming since their foundation. Each subsequent
owner of the castle strengthened it, restored it after its destruction, made changes to the building
architecture. And in the 19th century, an understanding of the value of such architectural objects
