DEVELOPMENT OF UNDERGROUND SPACE AS A RATIONAL WAY TO USE TERRITORY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MODERN CITY

The article examines modern trends towards densification of urban development with commercial facilities without a social component. Special attention is paid to the irrationality of the territory using during the functional planning of modern cities' public centers, which leads to medical, educational, and social institutions shortage. On the basis of conducted research, a number of commercial objects that do not require insolation and daylight exposure have been identified, and it is reasonable to direct, by planning means, their construction in the underground part of the city space.
