The article presents an analytical study of the technologies used in the production of children’s toy books as a special type of publishing product that combines artisticaesthetic, educational, playful, and instructional functions. The need for a systematic analysis and the development of a generalized classification of existing types of toy books at the present stage is emphasized, since the lack of unified approaches complicates the processes of design, editing, and print production. The main criteria for classifying these books are identified manufacturing method, structural features, age category, and level of interactivity.
Based on a systematic analysis, the most common types of toy books are identified, among which popup editions, foldout books, books with movable elements, puzzle books, fabric books, and sensory interactive editions occupy a significant place. A generalized description of children’s toy books is provided, taking into account the specifics of their content, artistic design, and technological execution.
It is noted that the comprehensive understanding and systematization of toy book classifications will contribute to improving the quality of children’s publishing products, developing the national segment of children’s literature, and updating approaches to training specialists in publishing. The results obtained may be used to improve academic courses aimed at training editors and designers, as well as in the practical work of publishing houses specializing in children’s literature.
