The modern state of the use and guard of earths of Ukraine is analysed in the article, ecological and economic, social problems, and also normatively-legal aspects of land-tenure, are lighted up. Conclusions, providing more rational and effective use and guard of earths in the state, are pointed.

The conditions of the emergence and development of monitoring as an integrated scientific information system monitoring the various natural and man-made objects and phenomena. The method of ecological and landscape monitoring of disturbed lands in the open fields of industrial development brimstone is described.

There are analyzed the current problems of monitoring soil Ukraine and outlined specific measures for its improvement taking into account domestic and foreign experience.
