Digital seismograph for regional observing and the results of its testing

During the last few years digital seismic apparatus development was provided in the Institute of Geophysics. Some sets of digital seismic apparatus were made and tested at the regional seismic stations of the Carpathian network. The created equipment DAS is reliable and has sufficiently high operational properties due to use of modem chips and replacement of some analog chains (filtering, integrating, etc.) on their program analogues. The flexible algorithms of useful seismic signal detecting was applied.

Recent deformations of the Earth crust in the Berehove horst zone

On the basis of the analysis of many year extensometric observation results in the Beregove horst zone the following conclusion has been drawn: the Earth's crust compression axis is oriented perpendicularly to the spreading of the East Carpathians what is in agreement with actual hypothesis regarding the neotectonic progress of the Panontan basin.

Extensometric method on study of seismotectonic processes in source areas of Transcarpathians earthquakes

In the paper the history of development and methodical-apparatus supply and results of extensometric observations in the Beregovo hills area in Transcarpathians in particular in Mujievska (Grand Beregivska) mountain is shortly described. The method of separation and results of analysis of deformation anomaly – precursor of perceptible 1989 Vynogradovo earthquake is given. The changes of geomechanical regime of Mujievska mountain rocks massifs till and during and after this earthquake are traced.

Identification of quarry blasts in the Carpathian region of Ukraine by the criterion of similarity of their waveforms

The criterion of similarity of waveforms at the same station is suggested for identification of quarry blasts conducted on regular basis at local extraction cites of Carpathian region of Ukraine. Case study is presented of the identification of quarry blasts from epicentral area of Dovhe-Irshava, conducted there during 2005–2007. The conclusion has been drawn that the criterion is effective and applicable for removing the quarry blasts from catalogues of local earthquakes.

Fault-block tectonics of lithosphere of north-eastern parth of Pasific margin of Eurasia as a cause of earthquakes in south-west of Koryak highlands

Earthquakes on the south-west of Koryak highlands are connected with a block-key tectonics of lithosphere of marine transital of north-eastern margin of Eurasia and the block-key structure of its strata. The cloud of shocks of three strong earthquakes: Koryak`s (13.10.1988), Khailin`s (8.03.1991) and Olutor`s (20.04.2006) is located over the downfold of lithosphere bottom with drop of depths equal to 15-20 km. Preparation for the seismic events evolution to the north-eastward is possible.

Analysis of the registration possibilities of seismic stations of Archangelsk seismic network

The estimation of sensitivity of Archangelsk seismic network seismic station on the base of registered during four years world earthquakes is given. The spatial distribution of sensitivity at registrations of earthquakes in different range distances and azimuth are revealed, information about technical parameters of registrations for seismic stations are precise.
 

The seismic-historic microzoning as a fundamental complement to seismic hazard evaluation

This paper discusses the needs to start a review process about the historical seismicity in Venezuela, from a different perspective to that used for compilation of already existent catalogues, with an interpretation intended to be more precise than exhibited by isoseismic curves assigned to most important earthquakes.
 

Correlation analysis of connection between the dynamics of solar plasma and generation of the earthquakes

To study the 11-year Sun dynamics as an external process that influences the dynamics of the tectonic plates of the planet Earth held a lot of studies based on such a large time duration of this period. But as is known, the frequency of the destruction of tectonic plates may have other timing parameters that may be shorter or longer than 11 or 22. This paper presents a correlation analysis of short-period permissible minimum time interval of the earthquake processes and dynamics of the solar plasma.

Variations of the response functions at “Odesa” and “Iznik” geomagnetic observatories in 2011

Purpose. The purpose of research – the approbation of earthquake prediction method for variations of the magnetovariational response functions that obtained by the geomagnetic observatories data processing. Methodology. The methodology includes the study of the geoelectric region structure through the analysis of the induction vector components and the horizontal magnetic tensor ones that obtained by the seconds-data processing at two geomagnetic observatories ("Odessa" (Ukraine) and "Iznik" (Turkey)) in 2011.
