Policy on the use of artificial intelligence

General Provisions

The increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI, necessitates clear guidelines for its application in the publication process. This policy aims to ensure transparency, research integrity, and the quality of scholarly publications.
This policy applies to authors, reviewers, and editors. The Editorial Board reserves the right to update it as AI technologies evolve.
The use of AI as part of the research process (e.g., data analysis, modeling) is not restricted by this policy but must be properly described in the methodology.

For Authors

Use of AI in Writing
Authors may use AI tools for:
  • improving grammar, language, and readability;
  • paraphrasing and structuring text.
However:
  • authors must fully review and verify all AI-generated content;
  • authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy and originality of the work;
  • AI must not be used to generate misleading or incorrect content.
Disclosure
Authors must disclose the use of AI in the manuscript in a section such as:
“Declaration on the Use of Artificial Intelligence”, including:
  • the name of the tool;
  • the nature of its use.
Authorship
AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship implies responsibility that can only be assigned to humans.
AI in Images
  • The use of AI to generate or modify scientific images is not permitted if it affects data integrity.
  • Only minor adjustments (brightness, contrast) are allowed.
  • AI may be used if it is part of the research methodology, provided it is fully disclosed.

For Reviewers

  • Manuscripts are confidential documents.
  • Reviewers must not upload manuscripts or their parts into AI tools.
Reviewers:
  • must not use AI for scientific evaluation;
  • may use AI tools for language improvement of their review provided that no confidential information is shared.
Reviewers are fully responsible for the content of their reviews.

For Editors

  • All submitted materials and communications are confidential.
  • Editors must not upload manuscripts or editorial materials into AI tools.
Editors:
  • must not use AI for editorial decision-making;
  • may use AI tools for language editing of communications (e.g., decision letters), provided confidentiality is maintained.
Editors are responsible for the editorial process and final decisions.

Responsibility

Failure to comply with this policy may result in:
  • rejection of the manuscript;
  • retraction of a published article.
