The article presents materials of research on the problem of school violence. The purpose of the article is to study (disclose) the essential content of the concept of violence in the school environment, as well as to determine the main content of the concept of "bullying". The study analyzes and systematizes theoretical approaches to understanding the phenomenon of school violence, the most developed in the scientific literature. A comparative analysis of the concept of school violence and other concepts that are similar in nature. The concept of violence in the school environment is covered in various scientific projections and in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine. 

The interpretation of the concept of school violence in a broad and narrow sense is considered. The works of modern researchers of different periods who analyzed this issue are analyzed. 

The analysis of the interpretation of the concept of bullying is carried out. These statistics show the state of bullying in Ukraine. Indicators of case law on bullying in Ukraine are presented. It is determined that being an integral part of the existence of society, violence is more or less inherent in the school environment. In English-language literature, the topic of school violence is not new, however, in the domestic psychological, pedagogical and sociological science, this problem began to be actively studied during the years of independent Ukraine. 

There is no common and uniform definition of the term "bullying" today, so in Ukraine it is defined in various regulations governing this problem. It should be noted that bullying is not, and be able to distinguish bullying from the usual conflict, coercion, aggression, abuse of peers, because criminal violence is the most dangerous form of criminal activity, so you need to be sufficiently prepared to fight it.

Further research should be aimed at in-depth study of the reasons for its existence and its prevention in the school environment, as harassment in educational institutions is a criminogenic factor and has an increased risk of involvement in illegal behavior and crime.
