Analysis of the competitiveness of the EU and its member countries

With the convergence of national markets of individual countries and the revival of globalization processes, international competition is growing not only among producers of goods and services, but also among regions and countries. There are a significant number of approaches to the analysis and improvement of countries’ competitiveness. Given Ukraine’s European integration pass, we consider the EU countries to be a key benchmark for its development.

Circular economy as a part of the organizational corporate strategy

In today’s environment, organizations need new corporate strategies and models to protect profitability and competitiveness, as well as the heritage of natural resources. A circular economy is a model of production and consumption in which all resources and products are reused in the economic cycle, which can significantly reduce waste generation and create additional economic benefits for business. This is especially important in the context of the recovery from the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

THE INTRODUCTION OF ENERGY-EFFICIENT TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE IN UKRAINE

The article identifies the main conditions and problems of introducing energy-efficient technologies for business in Ukraine and considers the design experience of building green commercial buildings that have been erected in recent years (innovative parks UNIT.City in Kiev and LvivTech.City in Lviv, on the Sobachie mouth peninsula, Astarta Business Center in Kiev, etc.) It has been established that the main problem of introducing energy-efficient technologies in public commercial projects is the insufficient participation of the state in financing and stimulating business.

The article presents literature overview of scientific insights into sustainable development concept highlighted by Ukrainian and foreign researches. The key idea is to investigate different approaches to the translation and interpretation of the “sustainable development” and “business sustainability” phenomenon elaborated by Ukrainian scientists and to compare them with definitions, presented by internationally recognized researches.

ANALYSIS OF THE UKRAINIAN CITIES’ SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY ON THE EXAMPLE OF LVIV

The world tendencies of popularization of ecological elements of sustainable mobility and the results of their introduction in Lviv on the way to sustainable development are considered in the article. Examples of implementation of the Sustainable Mobility Plan in the city in accordance with the set priorities are given: residents, public transport, ecological means of transportation, private transport. The development of infrastructure for individual environmental means of mobility and public transport is analyzed.

Prerequisites for the Sustainable Development of the Ukrainian Economy

The article describes the main prerequisites for the sustainable development of the Ukrainian economy, based on statistical data analysis. Firstly, the authors examine three dimensions of sustainable development (according to the TBL approach) based on official macroeconomic indicators. Secondly, the authors offer to consider three areas of the national economy as the main potential for sustainable development of the national economy. Based on it, the authors elaborate recommendations for boosting most attractive areas and harmonizing all aspects of sustainable development.

Circular Business Models in Ukraine

The paper presents the results of a circular economy study and the benefit of implementing this concept in Ukraine, based on the experience of the European Union, and provides recommendations from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the European Commission, which should be taken into account by governments in view of the critical environmental situation in the world. Possibilities of formation and development of circular business models in Ukraine on the example of the best European practices in the field of waste management are substantiated.

THE SUMMARY OF THE II INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC SYMPOSIUM “SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - STATE AND PROSPECTS” (SDEV’2020)

The II International Scientific Symposium "Sustainable Development - State and Prospects" (SDEV'2020), organized by the Viacheslav Chornovil Institute of Sustainable Development, was held in the training camp "Polytechnic-2" in Slavske, Lviv Region on February 12-15, 2020. The symposium was co-organized by the Ukrainian Environmental League.
