Однією з основних проблем пам’яткоохоронної і реставраційної діяльності є визначення цінності об’єкта охорони, в тому числі відносно його стильової чистоти. Метод системно-структурного аналізу допомагає дослідити і обґрунтувати прояви основних ознак стилю на різних рівнях - містобудівному рівні, рівні об’єкту і рівні окремого елементу, і таким чином аргументувати, чи є певна будівля прикладом певного стилю. Застосування методу системно-структурного аналізу показано на прикладі об’єктів України в стилі модерн.
