На основі розгляду основних моделей історичного мастер наративу (національний, класовий, релігійний) авторка пропонує мастер наратив культурної конвергенції, який є більш інклюзивним, фокусує увагу на успішній взаємодії різних етнокультурних, гендерних та релігійних груп у межах сучасної політичної нації. У статті стверджується, що сучасний етап розвитку демократичних країн потребує ґрунтовного перегляду засадничої моделі національного історичного мастер наративу, оскільки ми стикаємося з парадоксальною і потенційно небезпечною ситуацією. З однієї сторони, національні наративи в межах Європейського Союзу все ще лишаються моноетнічним та монорелігійним. З іншої сторони, склад населення переважної більшості суспільств європейських країн дуже швидко з різних причин стає все більш поліетнічнім й полірелігійним. Це вимагає нової моделі мастер наративу для написання національної історії як історії політичної нації.
