One of the most important and complex tasks in studying the causes and patterns of the deformation characteristics of spillway dams is to study the relationships between these characteristics and various environmental factors, as well as the mechanism of the deformations themselves. In such cases, usually resort to imitation models that interpret the phenomenon of deformation of the dam and linking the parameters of the external environment with the results of observations of dam displacements. In this case, statistical modeling methods are usually used, since it is practically impossible to construct deterministic models because of the difficulties in correctly establishing the model parameters.
