Januaru, 24, 2013 on the territory of Botanic Garden (Petrozavodsk State University – PetrSU) by means of stuff from Institute of Geology (Karelia Sci. Center RAS), Polar Geophysical Institute (KSC RAS), Mining-geological Dep. of PetrSU was founded The Geophysical Observatory.
The main objects of Observatory are seismic observations in Karelia; observations of geomagnetic and geoelectric fields variation and micro pulsations near Petrozavodsk; foundation of satellite tomography receiving station for monitoring of upper ionosphere state and station of satellite geodetic network (GPS).
