THE PROCESS OF FORMATION OF THE JEWISH SUBURBAN QUARTERS IN LVIV

Understanding of formative and historical processes is basic for the comprehensive approach to the regeneration of historical city quarters, those of the ancient Jewish ghetto of Lviv in particular. According to archaeological and scientific urban studies, theneighbourhood started its development as part of the princerly “posad”, having an ancient Volyn road trading route as one of its forming factors (which survives to this day).

EXISTING APPROACHES TO REVITALIZATION OF SACRED BUILDINGS AND COMPLEXES

Sacred objects play an important role as symbols of identity and traditions. It is noted that as a result of changes in society and technological progress, many of these buildings are at risk of neglect and destruction. The article explores different approaches to the revitalization of sacred objects, pointing to their role in preserving cultural heritage and creating active centers for different segments of society.

Globally, cities have two options for growth: extensive and intensive. The former involves expanding the city's area to accommodate increased development or population. However, this option has significant drawbacks, including longer travel times within the city, loss of arable or recreational land around the city, and the need to construct new infrastructure. As a result, many cities opt for the intensive approach, which maximizes land use efficiency.
