Treatment of high-strength wastewater from ammonium and phosphate ions with the obtaining of struvite

This work reviews the main methods of nitrogen and phosphorus removal from wastewater. The method of simultaneous removal of highly concentrated nitrogen and phosphorus was analyzed by physical and chemical precipitation, forming struvite, a by-product of magnesium ammonium orthophosphate hexahydrate. Laboratory investigations were conducted on the test solutions with the concentrations of ammonium nitrogen, phosphates, ions of magnesium and calcium corresponding to the ones of relevant elements in wastewater of swine complexes located in Lviv region, Ukraine.

The use of crushed rubber in asphalt mixtures of road pavements

The presented article gives a brief overview on the possible use of crushed rubber from waste tires in asphalt mixtures. Advantages, disadvantages and difficulties of its use in road construction are also discussed. The results of sieve analysis and thermal analysis obtained on the samples prepared from waste rubber are discussed. The use of recycled tire rubber in road construction can contribute significantly to the reduction of environmental load.

Використання залишкової базової оливи як основи мастильних рідин

Petroleum oils are the basis for the production of individual group of lubricating liquids used for mold lubrication while glass wares production. It was established that residual basic oil produced at JSC “Ukrtatnafta” has better lubricating properties and thermal stability compared with MS-20 and I-40 commercial oils. Therefore it is recommended to use it during lubricating liquids production.

The Use of Granulated Modofoed Lime for Expansive Cement with High-Energy Self-Tension

The article examines the features of hardening and structurization processes of cement with high-energy self-tension. The physical-chemical methods of the research confirm that the use of the granulated expanding additive leads not only to an increase in expansion but also proves to form zones with different hydrated phases around granule

Studies on the Effect of Doping Agent on the Structure of Polyaniline

Polyaniline (PANI) doped with hydrochloric acid (HCl), sulpharic acid (H2SO4) and formic acid (HCOOH) was synthesized by a chemical oxidative polymerization technique. The oxidizing agent used for this method is potassium dichromate. The polymer products were characterized by FTIR and UV-visible spectroscopy. The FTIR results showed that the doping degree of PANI-HCOOH is the greatest one. A successful doping of HCOOH in PANI was observed in UV-visible spectroscopy. Three steps decomposition observed from the thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA).

Thermal Decomposition Kinetics of Torrefied Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch Briquettes

The study is aimed at investigating the thermal behavior and decomposition kinetics of torrefied oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) briquettes using a thermogravimetric (TG) analysis and the Coats-Redfern model. The results revealed that thermal decomposition kinetics of OPEFB and torrefied OPEFB briquettes is significantly influenced by the severity of torrefaction temperature. Furthermore, the temperature profile characteristics; Tonset, Tpeak, and Tend increased consistently due to the thermal lag observed during TG analysis.
